Braves Game/Six Flags Getaway

Jeremiah and I got to experience a first this past weekend...being without Audrey for one whole night!  {I was so nervous about leaving her behind, only because I never had before, but she was in the wonderful hands of her Nana, whom she loves and adores like crazy!}  Anyways, Friday morning, we traveled to Atlanta with 46 others from our church for a Braves game (Friday night) and Six Flags (Saturday).  We already knew that the weather in Atlanta was suppose to be a 60% chance of rain and possible thunderstorms Friday night and 30% chance of rain all day Saturday, so all of us were hoping for the best!

We got to our hotel, just with enough time to put our bags in our room and head back out to the vans to load up for the Braves game. We fit 48 people on 3-15 passenger vans and were on our way!  {Side note: I had NEVER been to a pro baseball game before, so needless to say, I was super excited!}

We were all decked out in our Braves attire!
(That's my cousin J.T. in the background sporting his pink bandana!)
As we approached Turner Field and were finding our parking lot, it started POURING!!! All I could think was GREAT, we are going to get soaked!  However, the Lord had some compassion on us and stopped the rain for just a few minutes so we could walk up into the stadium!  Once we got inside, it started thundering, lightening and the rain was pouring!

While the rain poured, we hung out under the pavilion.  We thought for sure that the rain would last for FOREVER, but when 7 pm rolled around (that's when the game was suppose to begin), the rain stopped, and the sky opened up!  It was wonderful!!

We headed up to the Upper Box, which we thought might be bad seats (only because they were so high up), but they were actually really good! You could see everything!

Look at that beautiful view of Atlanta!
Even though the players looked like ants, the view was still great!
LOVE this picture! My cousins Steph, Lauren, and I.
(How is Jeremiah playing on his phone during all of this excitement?)
We ended the night with the Braves winning! And then we got to experience the Friday night fireworks which were awesome!! This was the best I could do with an iPhone...

Now on to Six Flags...We woke up, got ready, and got there around 9:30 am. To our surprise, they were already letting people in!  If you have ever been to Six Flags in the summer, then you know how it can be: tons of people, really long lines, and HOT, HOT, HOT!  Well, guess what?  We didn't have to worry about ANY of that!  Can you believe it?  I had told my cousins when we got there (the girls in the picture above and who rode with us down to Atlanta) that I had wanted to leave around 2 pm (that's when our group was to meet and check in).  Of course they thought I was crazy because who could do all of the rides we wanted to do and get out of there by 2 pm!?  Well, we did it!!  We rode Georgia Cyclone, Batman, Thunder River, Monster Mansion, Superman, Scream Machine, and others I didn't participate in like Mind Bender and Ninja.

Riding the Monster Mansion (kind of dark, sorry!)
After we met up with the church group at 2 pm, we headed home!  Jeremiah and I really had a wonderful time away, but were SO happy to get back home and see Miss Audrey!  And she was happy to see us too!  I love it when she spots Jeremiah and I and squeals because she is so excited!  This little trip made me realize that Jeremiah and I really need to get out by ourselves more often!

Let the Blogging Begin...

Well, I guess this marks my first official blog post! I am really excited to start "documenting" the things that are happening in ours lives! Things which are happening very soon...like tomorrow morning!

For the first time in Miss Audrey's 22 month life (she is actually 22 months today!), Jeremiah and I will be leaving her behind for ONE WHOLE NIGHT to go on a church trip to Atlanta, GA, where we will watch the Braves play and then have fun at Six Flags. I am really excited to get away, yet honestly nervous as all get out at the thought of leaving her overnight. (I might end up with separation anxiety!) However, I know that she will have a blast with her Nana and will be in great hands!

This is going to be an interesting, great couple of days! And of course I'll let you know how it all turns out!
